The Pope Commemorates the Reformation that Split Western Christianity
posted on October 31, 2016Sylvia Poggioli of NPR reports that “Pope Francis is traveling Monday to Sweden, an overwhelmingly Lutheran country, to kick off a yearlong commemoration of the Protestant Reformation that split the churches 500 years ago.” Catholic-Lutheran relations have been steadily improving since the 1960s, and the pope has said that he wants to work on social issues with the Lutheran Church.
