String Of Gay Marriage Victories Broken In Louisiana
posted on September 4, 2014Robert Wolf of USA Today reports that the streak of gay marriage victories came to an end on Wednesday as a federal judge in Louisiana upheld the state’s ban on same sex marriage. Judge Martin Feldman wrote in his ruling that same-sex marriage is a new phenomenon, therefore it is not a fundamental right that states are obliged to protect. “The court is persuaded that a meaning of what is marriage that has endured in history for thousands of years, and prevails in a majority of states today, is not universally irrational,” Feldman wrote.
