String Of Gay Marriage Victories Broken In Louisiana

Robert Wolf of USA Today reports that the streak of gay marriage victories came to an end on Wednesday as a federal judge in Louisiana upheld the state’s ban on same sex marriage. Judge Martin Feldman wrote in his ruling that same-sex marriage is a new phenomenon, therefore it is not a fundamental right that states are obliged to protect. “The court is persuaded that a meaning of what is marriage that has endured in history for thousands of years, and prevails in a majority of states today, is not universally irrational,” Feldman wrote.
