A Pastor’s Son Becomes a Critic of Religion on TikTok
posted on April 13, 2021Ruth Graham of The New York Times reports that Abraham Piper, the son of the influential Christian author and pastor John Piper, is a rising TikTok star—and a critic of evangelicalism. “If you want to roll your eyes at how weird it all was, that’s what I’m here for,” he says in one video. Graham writes, “Tyler Huckabee, a senior editor at the Christian magazine Relevant, described TikTok as a forum well-suited to following a faith journey like Mr. Piper’s. ‘He’s borrowed a lot of tricks from his dad, in taking complicated ideas and packaging them in quotable, easy-to-understand sound bites.’”
