White House, Gay Rights Advocates Tussle over Biden’s Comments on Gay Marriage
posted on May 7, 2012On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Vice President Joe Biden made remarks in support of gay marriage: “I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.” TPM’s Pema Levy notes his statements “ignited a small fire” over perceptions they “were too close for comfort for the Obama administration’s ‘evolving’ position on marriage equality.”
