Westboro Church Founder Fred Phelps Dies
posted on March 20, 2014CNN reports the death of Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church. The church, known for their anti-gay protests and protests at military funerals and other public events released a statement chiding the media for “gleefully anticipating his death.” In a statement, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force said, “Fred Phelps will not be missed by the LGBT community, people with HIV/AIDS and the millions of decent people across the world who found what he and his followers do deeply hurtful and offensive. While it is hard to find anything good to say about his views or actions, we do give our condolences to his family members at what must be a painful time for them.”
