U.S. Supreme Court Denies Appeal to Block Maine’s Vaccine Mandate

Megan Gray of the Portland Press Herald reports, “For the second time, the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected an emergency appeal from health care workers in Maine to block the vaccine mandate that went into effect Friday.” The mandate did not include a religious exemption, which the appellants claimed violated their religious liberty. Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, however, joined Chief Justice Roberts and the three liberal justices to deny the request to grant emergency relief.
