Trump Pushes Dark View of Islam to Center of U.S. Policy-Making

In The New York Times, Scott Shane, Matthew Rosenberg, and Eric Lipton report that President Trump “has embraced a deeply suspicious view of Islam that several of his aides have promoted, notably retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, now his national security adviser, and Stephen K. Bannon, the president’s top strategist.” They write that this anti-Islam sentiment has “flourished on the fringes of the American right,” and its proponents include Pamela Gellar, Frank Gaffney, and Robert Spencer, all of whom have been guests on Bannon’s former radio show.
