Township Saw a Zoning Issue. The Justice Dept. Saw Religious Discrimination.
posted on August 8, 2016In The New York Times, Katie Shepherd writes that the Justice Department ruled last month that Bensalem, Pennsylvania, officials who denied a Muslim congregation’s construction of a mosque violated religious land-use laws. The department has been investigating similar violations since 2010. Shepherd writes, “Since November, the Justice Department has established the ‘Combating Religious Discrimination Today’ campaign and taken part in a series of anti-discrimination efforts to celebrate religious pluralism.”
