Tablet’s Charlotte Bonelli reports on Richard Rothschild and Milton Krents, two marketing geniuses at the American Jewish Committee that harnessed the power of mass media to successfully stem the rise of anti-Semitism in America during World War II. The pair created radio broadcasts and newspaper advertisements that helped cement the Jews’ place in the cultural fabric of America. “The Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto,” Bonelli writes, “was the capstone of an American Jewish Committee program to combat anti-Semitism by promoting the idea that, with the world at war, anti-Jewish bigotry wasn’t just a problem for the Jews—it was also essentially un-American.”
