The Nazi Doctor Who Got Away With Mass Murder, Fled to Cairo, and Became a Muslim

Kulish and Mekhennet document how Heim fled postwar Germany for Egypt in 1963, eventually converted to Islam, and was tried in absentia for war crimes in 1979. “Heim plays that ageless near-mythic figure, the evil man with a clear conscience, unrepentant to the end,” Mikics writes.
