The National Association of Evangelicals Has Changed Its Position on the Death Penalty

Sarah Pulliam Bailey of The Washington Post reports, “A new resolution from a group of evangelicals could suggest a shift in attitudes among some conservative Christians who have long held support for the death penalty.” The National Association of Evangelicals announced on Monday that its board approved a new policy recognizing that some evangelicals oppose the death penalty. The move does not reverse the organization’s earlier stances that advocated for the death penalty, but it does acknowledge differences in opinion among its members.
