Thailand’s Tiger Temple Probed for Links to Animal Trafficking

James Hookway of The Wall Street Journal reports, “A Buddhist temple west of Bangkok, once a staple on the Thailand’s tourist trail, is at the center of one of the country’s biggest-ever wildlife-trafficking investigations after scores of dead tiger cubs were found piled in a freezer and stuffed into bottles and jars.” Buddhist monks ran the temple, where tourists could be photographed with the tigers for a fee. Now authorities are investigating whether the tigers were being bred “to feed the market for wild-animal parts in China and other countries.”
