Seeking to Court Evangelicals, Bush Delivers Commencement Address at Liberty University

CNN’s Karl de Vries writes on Jeb Bush’s visit to Liberty University, which marks another attempt by the politician to gain the trust of Christian conservatives. Evangelicals have been wary of Bush’s stances as a moderate, but the Catholic convert’s speech at Williams Stadium was met with a “warm, if at times tepid, reception.” Vries notes that Bush “earned his loudest applause when he spoke of what he viewed as the encroachment of government against religious freedom.”
