Dahlia Lithwick reviews Bruce Allen Murphy’s new book Scalia: A Court of One in The Atlantic. In the book, Murphy tackles the relationship between Justice Scalia’s Catholic faith and his body of work on the Supreme Court by examining a variety of his opinions, speeches, and writings. “Murphy’s conclusion—at once obvious and subversive—is that Justice Scalia is very much the product of his deeply held Catholic faith,” Lithwick writes. “The pristine border between faith and jurisprudence is largely myth and aspiration.”
