Religious Groups Take Immigration Aim

POLITICO’s Seung Min Kim reports that religious groups are increasing pressure on the House to act on the comprehensive immigration reform that passed in the Senate last month. Several organizations are blanketing representatives with letters that stress how their faith aligns with immigration reform. “For those of us who are Christians, we must heed the direct commandment of Jesus to welcome the stranger,” writes Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners. “That is why evangelicals are praying for every member of the House and will continue to speak out publicly in support of Congress taking action.”
