Religious Affiliation in America
posted on October 23, 2012At First Things, Mark Movsesian analyzes the recent Pew Report on religious affiliation, which reported an increase in the percentage of Americans who do not identify with any religion, and a continuing decrease in the percentage of who identify as Protestants. Movsesian believes that these findings might be more related to generational differences than permanent shifts in American society. Movsesian writes, “we shouldn’t assume that the increase in the percentage of Nones will remain stable over time. Generations typically become more religiously observant as they age.”
