Pope Francis Urges Pastoral Care for Transgender People
posted on October 3, 2016For The Washington Post, Nicole Winfield writes that Pope Francis made statements regarding transgender people aboard the papal plane on Sunday. Francis explained that Jesus would have never turned away a gay or transgender person, so priests should not either. But he said, “It’s a problem of morality. It’s a human problem. And it must be resolved as it can be. But always with the mercy of God, within the truth.” He told reporters, “Please don’t write ‘The pope blesses trans.’ Please.”
