Perry Discusses View of Homosexuality
posted on June 12, 2014The Associated Press reports that Texas Governor Rick Perry compared homosexuality to alcoholism during an appearance in California. In response to a question about whether he viewed homosexuality as a disorder, Perry said, “I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.” Perry’s comments came on the heels of Texas’ Republican Convention approving a platform plank in support of allowing individuals to seek counseling to cure homosexuality.
