Oklahoma’s Ten Commandments Statue Isn’t Going Anywhere, Governor Says
posted on July 8, 2015In The Washington Post, Abby Phillip reports that Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has refused to remove the state’s Ten Commandments monument, even though the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled it a violation of the state constitution, which forbids using government property to promote a certain religion. Phillip writes, “In statements issued Tuesday, Fallin defended the statue and said that ‘the court got it wrong.’ She added that the statue will remain in place while the state appeals the court’s decision and the legislature considers changes to the constitution.”
