At NPR, Bill Chappell reports that a federal judge struck down Mississipi’s ban on same-sex adoption. U.S. District Court Judge Daniel P. Jordan III overturned a law that had stood since 2000, arguing that the ban was unconstitutional because it violated the equal protection clause. “I’m a happy camper. Our clients are beyond happy campers. They are more than thrilled,” said the plaintiffs’ lead attorney, Roberta Kaplan.
