Judge Overturns MO. Law on Birth Control Coverage

In Missouri, a federal judge has struck down a law that exempts moral objectors from mandatory birth control coverage, reports David A. Lieb at the Associated Press. While some find the ruling to be a restriction of religious freedom, others see it as a victory for women’s contraceptive rights. Peter Brownlie, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, applauded the decision for guaranteeing “that all Missouri women–no matter who their boss is–have access to basic preventive health care without a co-pay, including birth control.”
