Israel’s Netanyahu Presses U.S. to Keep Up Iran Sanctionsposted on October 1, 2013
The Los Angeles Times’ Christi Parsons and Paul Richter report, “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday urged President Obama to stand firmly behind current sanctions against Iran and prepare to crack down harder if the Islamic Republic remains on a path toward developing nuclear weapons.” During their meeting in the Oval Office, Obama insisted he remains skeptical, but is willing to engage in diplomacy if Iran is serious about reopening relations. “[I]t is our preference to resolve these issues diplomatically. But we enter into these negotiations very clear-eyed,” Obama said.
