Israel Launches Major Operation Against Hamas in Gaza Strip
posted on July 8, 2014“The Israeli army, air force and navy launched a major operation Tuesday against the Islamist militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip,” William Booth and Ruth Eglash report in The Washington Post. Israeli airstrikes targeting Mohammed Shabban, a senior Hamas operative, were ordered after rockets from Gaza hit Israeli territory. The attacks on both sides follow the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens and the apparent revenge killing of a Palestinian teen.
