Ilhan Omar Will be Nation’s First Somali-American Legislator

Patrick Coolican report that Ilhan Omar has won a state House race to represent Minneapolis’ district 60B, becoming the nation’s first Somali-American legislator. Paul Thissen, the House Minority Leader of Minnesota, said that Omar’s victory “says something important about the future of Minnesota, and what it means to be a Minnesotan.”
