Texas House Gives Early OK To Abortion Restrictions
posted on July 10, 2013Becca Aaronson of The Texas Tribune reports the hotly debated abortion restrictions facing the Texas House of Representatives have been tentatively approved in a 98-49 vote. The restrictions, which ban abortions at 20 weeks, must be voted on again before it moves to the Senate. “At five months the baby has developed the sensory receptors that it can feel the pain of that abortion,” says Representative Jodie Laubenberg, author of the bill. “That is what gives us the authority and the right to be here, to do this.”
