“Hoax Bomb” Charges Swept Away as Irving Teen’s Story Floods Social Media
posted on September 16, 2015Avi Selk of The Dallas Morning News reports that fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested Monday “for bringing ‘a hoax bomb’ to school.” To both teachers and police, Ahmed maintained that the device was simply a homemade clock. “He just wants to invent good things for mankind,” said Ahmed’s father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, told Selk. “But because his name is Mohamed and because of Sept. 11, I think my son got mistreated.”
