Groups Rally to Call for Veto of Religious Objections Bill

Nassim Benchaabane of the Associated Press reports that more than 300 activists in Jackson, Mississippi, rallied against the religious-objections bill after it passed the state’s legislature. Protesters argued that the measure would permit discrimination against gay and transgender people, and are calling on the governor to veto the bill. “Ask yourself this question: Would Jesus sign this bill?” said Brandiilyne Dear, a lesbian pastor from Hattiesburg. “The answer is as simple as the gospel: love thy neighbor.”
