Gay Marriage Groups Pop the Question to SCOTUS

At POLITICO, Edward Isaac-Dovere reports that after recent victories in lower courts, against Prop 8, and against the Defense of Marriage Act, many LGBT advocates predict a Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage within two years. “Those decisions, along with movement in states that have legalized marriage legislatively, have created momentum,” Isaac-Dovere writes. “But they’ve also created an unusually pockmarked legal landscape that has different marriage laws state to state, even in the same region”—a situation that, given the right case, may spur the Supreme Court to establish a nation-wide ruling.
