For Some, Passover Seder Will Address Global Refugee Crisis
posted on March 28, 2017The Associated Press’s Leanne Italie reports that synagogues across the country are hosting Passover seders designed to honor the global refugee crisis. Temple Beth-El, in Richmond, Virginia, is hosting a modified Seder with dozens of refugees and supplements to traditional readings on April 11. Rabbi Rachel Grant Meyer, who works with HIAS, a Jewish refugee resettlement organization, said, “Passover really feels like the time on the calendar that just makes the most sense to put people’s attention on the global refugee crisis. There is clearly so much resonance with Jewish history.”
