Feeling G.O.P. Peril, Muslims Try to Get Out Vote

The New York Times‘ Alan Rappeport reports that American-Muslim advocacy groups plan to combat the rising anti-Islamic rhetoric in the presidential race by getting Muslims out to vote. Groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic relations, are encouraging mosques to register their members in order to voice their opinions in the public sphere.  “The fear and apprehension in the American Muslim community has never been at this level,” said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for CAIR. “The anti-Islamic tidal wave is spurring civic participation.”
