Engaging Religion at the Department Of State

posted on July 31, 2013

The Immanent Frame gathers responses to the creation of the State Department’s religious engagement office from prominent scholars and writers in religion, including Mara Willard from Harvard Divinity School and The Christian Century’s associate editor Amy Frykholm. Frykholm writes, “Religious belief and religious motivation are powerful forces in our world–both for good and for ill. We would do well to be attentive to them, while still maintaining our own traditions rooted in religious freedom. We can and we should do more to develop locally specific and locally meaningful religious engagement, as a means of educating ourselves and becoming a more effective global partner.”
