Does Love Last Longer in Arranged Marriages?
posted on May 25, 2012Arranged marriages “seem odd and outdated to modern Americans,” but evidence from the Unification Church shows they may actually work for their members. Daniel Burke of Religion News Service profiles a couple whose marriage was arranged by their parents and blessed by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the Unification Church’s leader. Unificationists appear to have lower divorce rates than the general American population; the church estimates 70 percent of Moon-matched couples are still married.
