Citing Atrocities, John Kerry Calls ISIS Actions Genocide

The New York Times‘ Matthew Rosenberg reports, “Secretary of State John Kerry declared on Thursday that the Islamic State is committing genocide against Christians, Yazidis and Shiite Muslims who have fallen under its control in Syria and Iraq.” Christian groups have pressured the Obama administration to make such a statement and to respond to the organization’s violent actions in the Middle East. “Daesh is genocidal by self-proclamation, by ideology, and by actions — in what it says, what it believes, and what it does,” Kerry told reporters in Washington.
