Churches Examine White Privilege
posted on April 20, 2016Adelle M. Banks of Religion News Service reports that predominantly white congregations are beginning to expand their dialogue on social and racial injustice. In the wake of continuing deaths of African Americans at the hands of police, church leaders are reexamining their teachings on white privilege. “White people have the responsibility to educate white people about race and racism,” said Reverend Rob Keithan of All Souls Church Unitarian in Washington. “We can’t place all that burden on people of color … We have to do the education.”
