Catholics Differ At “War On Poverty” Hearing
posted on August 2, 2013Corrie Mitchell of Religion News Service reports that Sister Simone Campbell, founder of the “Nuns on the Bus” campaign, testified before the House Budget Committee chaired by Representative Paul Ryan. Ryan, a devout Catholic, avoided theological debate on his proposed budget cuts, which include eliminating food stamps, something Sister Campbell views as immoral.
