Boy Scouts Proposal Displeases Religious Leaders on Both Sides

Adelle M. Banks of Religion News Service considers conservative and liberal religious responses to the Boy Scouts proposal to accept gay members, but reject gay leaders. Conservative leaders hoped for no change in the traditional policy, while liberals believe that the new policy is still discriminatory. The Rev. Peter Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, said that while the proposal is “a step in the right direction,…[it] is abhorrent to continue to discriminate against scout leaders.”
