An Alabama Synagogue, Once Struggling for Congregants, Stretches out its Hand

The Associated Press writes about the success of a $1 million program in Dothan, Alabama, designed to recruit Jews to relocate to their town. Since the program, the congregation size has doubled. Larry Blumberg, the businessman who financed the program to cover moving expenses for families, said, “The injection of this new blood has really been helpful and refreshing. I think the program has created a lot of buzz and attention both in our local community and throughout the Jewish community at large.”
