Amnesty International Describes Israel as Apartheid State in New Report

Jacob Kornbluh of The Forward reports, “Amnesty International, a widely respected human rights group, plans to release a report on Tuesday accusing Israel of committing apartheid and describing its existence as a Jewish state as a deprivation of Palestinians’ basic rights.” Israeli government officials have preemptively refuted the accusations, calling them antisemitic. The report is not the first from an international human rights organization to levy the accusation of apartheid, but it stands out in that it labels the entire country, rather than select territories, as an apartheid state.
