Abortion Covered in Most Health Plans for Congress
posted on December 5, 2013Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar of the Associated Press reports that Republican abortion opponent Representative Chris Smith from New Jersey revealed Wednesday that more than 90 percent of healthcare plans offered to lawmakers and staff cover abortion. Smith says he believes many abortion opponents on the Capitol have unknowingly signed up for plans that cover the procedure. “”It was incredibly confusing, if not impossible, to find out,” he said. “That is what’s happening in state after state. People cannot find out if plans on the exchange include abortion.”
