A Meeting On Tolerance Turns Into A Shouting Match
posted on June 12, 2013Blake Farmer of NPR reports on a public meeting in Manchester, Tennessee that “was supposed to address and tamp down discrimination toward Muslims there,” but quickly “turned into a shouting match.” Farmer says hecklers interrupted remarks from the local U.S. attorney and cheered at the mention of the burning down of a mosque in Columbia, Tennesee. Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said the mood felt like people should be carrying “pitchforks and torches.”
