A Black Church Burned in the Name of Trump
posted on November 2, 2016The Atlantic‘s Emma Green reports that a black church was burned on Tuesday night. The words “Vote Trump” were spray painted on the side of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. No one was injured, and the fire is being investigated as a hate crime. Greenville mayor Errick Simmons told Green, “We’re very cautious in this climate, in this day and time, to make sure we’re very deliberate in investigating matters like this. During a press conference, he added, “I see this as an attack on the black church and the black community.”
