Ted Cruz: No Religious Test for Presidency Under the Constitution

In The Washington Post, Katie Zezima reports that Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said “it would be unconstitutional to prohibit someone from being president because of their religion.” Cruz was criticizing fellow Republican candidate Ben Carson’s statement that he would not support a Muslim president. In the Sunday interview on Iowa Public Television, Cruz also called the president’s plan to accept more refugees “crazy,” saying, “We do not need to be bringing in tens of thousands of Muslim refugees from Syria.”
