Groundhog Day Nightmare

For Slate, Robert J. Smith and G. Ben Cohen outline the case of Richard Glossip, who was set to be executed by the state of Oklahoma on Wednesday. When the Supreme Court considered the legality of Oklahoma’s lethal injection procedure in June, dissenting Justice Stephen Breyer suggested, “the death penalty is too broken to fix and that the Supreme Court should reconsider its constitutionality.” Smith and Cohen argue “the soul of our nation’s justice system” depends on it.
