Two CCCU Colleges to Allow Same-Sex Married Faculty

At Christianity Today, Bob Smietana, Morgan Lee, and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra report that Goshen College and Eastern Mennonite University, both members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, “have added ‘sexual orientation’ to their nondiscrimination policies, opening the door for the schools to hire staff and faculty who are in same-sex marriages.” The announcement comes despite CCCU support for universities that only hire those holding traditional views of marriage. “This decision is in keeping with our commitment to non-discrimination and our mission as a Christ-centered, liberal arts academic institution,” Kay Brenneman Nussbaum, board chair of Eastern Mennonite University, said in a statement.
