Adventists Stay the Course, Vote to Deny Women’s Ordination

Religion News Service’s Adelle M. Banks reports that Seventh-day Adventists voted Wednesday to reject a proposal permitting the ordination of female pastors. The proposal, which was presented at the Adventists’ 60th General Conference Session, underwent debate before the vote, during which proponents and opponents of the measure shared their views. “Voting ‘no’ will do damage to our church,” former Adventist president Jan Paulson said. “I am fearful of what will happen if we do not allow the church to go forward on this.”
