After Death Threats, Bangladeshi Atheist Relocates to US

For Religion News Service, Kimberly Winston writes that Taslima Nasrin, an atheist activist from Bangladesh, has relocated to the U.S. after an extremist group threatened her life. Nasrin “rose to prominence in Bangladesh with the 1993 publication of her first novel, ‘Shame,’ which detailed her country’s Muslim-Hindu tensions and argued against religion,” Winston writes. Though Nasrin has received death threats before, the murders of three other South Asian atheists this year have made her position more precarious.
