S.F. Archbishop’s Imposition Of Morality Clause At Schools Outrages Many

The Los Angeles Times’ Lee Romney reports that San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone sparked controversy this week by issuing a new handbook for employees of Catholic schools that contains a morality clause requiring them to condemn gay marriage, contraception and abortion, among other things. This is not the first time Cordileone has acted out against same-sex marriage, as over the summer, the Archbishop took part in a march in Washington D.C. to protest the issue. “When people in Catholic institutions endorse such views, it creates a toxic confusion about our fundamental values among both students and others in society at large,” Cordileone said.
