U.S. Evangelicals Cheer on Latin American Culture Wars

For Reuters, Alistair Bell and Mitra Taj report, “Losing the fight against same-sex marriage at home, leading U.S. Evangelical Christians are joining in the culture wars in Latin America as cheerleaders for opponents of gay legal partnerships, abortion and pornography.” The authors profile Mat Staver, head of the law faculty of Liberty University and disciple of Jerry Falwell, and Samuel Rodriguez, a Latino preacher with strong political connections in the U.S., who together founded a network of evangelical leaders in Latin America and are urging them to become politically active.
