Can General Linder’s Special Operations Forces Stop the Next Terrorist Threat?

In The New York Times Magazine, Eliza Griswold reports on General James Linder, commander of the United States Special Operations forces in Africa, and the United States’ new approach to terrorist threats in Africa—including Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabab in Somalia, and the Lord’s Resistance Army in the Central African Republic and South Sudan. “We have a real global threat,” Linder said. “The problems in Africa are going to land on our doorstep if we’re not careful.”
